The ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) boiler and pressure vessel codes (BPVC) have now been updated and are available from BSI.

The code – which establishes rules of safety governing the design, fabrication, maintenance and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels – also covers power-producing machines and nuclear power plant components.
BSI says that when updating the ASME codes, the technical committee considered technological advances, including materials, construction, methods of fabrication, inspection, certification and overpressure protection.
The 2013 Edition of the codes includes a 'no addenda service', meaning that all changes are incorporated into the appropriate page and each affected area is identified, with a designator corresponding to the new Edition.
Each Section of the 2013 Edition also includes a summary of changes that lists the material affected by the change, plus the nature of the change.
With the release of the 2013 ASME BPVC, the Code will be moving from a three-year to a two-year cycle.
