BOCM Pauls saves £95,000 on steam traps

TLV has won a contract to provide regular steam trap surveys on all 13 BOCM Pauls animal feed processing sites throughout the UK.
The deal follows surveys that identified leaks estimated to be costing £95,000 and environmental damage of 435 tonnes of CO2. TLV used its latest Lloyds-verified TrapMan TM5 testing equipment. And found that out of 552 traps tested, 89 (16%) were leaking. Traps have now been given coloured discs – red for leaking and blue for not working – making it much easier for the maintenance team to find faulty traps. BOCM Pauls' Graham Reith says the TLV survey has prompted a programme to address leaks across all sites. "The financial and environmental costs have certainly encouraged the committee to continue surveying the 552 traps at six-month intervals," he states.
