Pumps specialist Flowserve has received a multi-million dollar order from MN Larnaca Desalination to provide a pump package and energy recovery package to be used at a 15.9 million gallons/day seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant in Cyprus.
MN Larnaca Desalination – a joint venture between Mekorot Development & Enterprise, of Israel, and Netcom, of Cyprus – is to design and rebuild the existing SWRO plant and then operate the upgraded facility for 25 years.
The Larnaca project will use Flowserve Calder Dual Work Exchange Energy Recovery (DWEER) units together with its DMX pumps for the high-pressure feed services.
DWEER units are isobaric machines claimed to recover up to 97% of the hydraulic energy remaining in brine stream, so helping to reduce the operator's running costs.
