Flexicon has helped a team of young engineers develop a hybrid propulsion system for its Formula Student racing car, by providing a flexible conduit system to protect the cabling.

LURacing finished an impressive second in the alternative drivetrain class, and won E.on's 'Innovation in drivetrain and enviromental technologies' award at a race event held at Silverstone.
They used an 18kW electric three phase motor and a 250cc gasoline engine working in parallel, with Flexicon providing cable protection in the form of its liquid-tight LPCO PVC reinforced conduit with compression fittings.
Flexicon's export manager Chris Poulton explains that the non-metallic system helped reduce weight while providing complete ingress protection to IP67, as well as a smooth, wipe clean surface capable of the temperature extremes and handling 400/600V systems.
