Stationery producer British Loose Leaf is reporting immediate energy savings since installing a variable speed rotary vane compressor from Mattei, with assistance from the Carbon Trust.

The factory, based in Crayford, Kent, requires compressed air for ring binder and folder production, and already had two ageing Mattei 30kW fixed speed machines.
However, BLL production manager Rob Kayabasi says that an audit carried out by the compressor manufacturer revealed that the efficiency of the system could be substantially improved.
After specifying an Optima 30 – a variable speed compressor that data logging had shown could deliver 36% energy savings – he says that Mattei then provided advice on obtaining the Carbon Trust loan.
That led to a loan covering two thirds of the compressor cost, and Kayabasi says he was "thrilled" with the scale of financial assistance.
"We anticipate that the financial savings we will make from using more energy efficient equipment will pay for the new compressor within a few years. We are very appreciative of the help given to us by Mattei to secure the loan," he says.
