Maxon Motor is marking its first half-century with a celebration of its technological innovation from electric shavers to the surface of Mars.

The Swiss company began life as Interelectric Sachseln AG in 1961, producing products for Braun Electric Razors – notably the dc motor and the shaving foil.
From these modest beginnings, the company made a defining switch in 1968 to developing tiny dc motors, with ironless rotors, doubling efficiency compared to traditional models and instantly revolutionising the miniature motor market.
50 years on, Maxon motors can be found in a wide range of applications, from high temperature subsea drilling to two generations of NASA Mars Rovers.
"It's astounding to track Maxon's development from a fairly small concern in the 60s to becoming one of the most trusted manufacturers of high-performance components in the world," comments CEO of Maxon Motor UK Keith Ellenden.
To celebrate the company's journey so far, Maxon Motor UK will present one individual with an Apple iPad 2. All contestants have to do to be in the running is fill out a short survey at www.maxonmotor.co.uk.
