Mechanical booster pumps, which are to replace steam ejectors on the chemical vapour infiltration process for a European high temperature materials manufacturer, will lead to cost savings.

Edwards has secured the order, worth œ50,000, for its oil-free HV8000 boosters, and the company's Marinella Varallo says that using these as part of the vacuum system is also a green solution, since the pumps do not produce contaminated wastewater.
She explains that Edwards proposed an HV8000 with variable frequency drive to replace the second stage of the process steam ejector system - typically the highest steam consumer.
Supported by an existing liquid ring vacuum pump, the new booster will operate at an inlet pressure of 120mbar and 250mbar outlet.
