With the new IEC 61439 control panels and electrical distribution systems standard coming into force from November 2014, Rittal has produced a guide book to help the industry adapt in time.
'Standard-compliant Switchgear and Control Protection' offers an insight into the IEC 61439 standards, along with guidance on how to comply – including in terms of panel design, selection of components and the testing methodology.
A Rittal spokesperson explains that the key point is the panel becomes a system, "which means the designer/panel builder must consider: the enclosure; the effects of heat upon components; cooling equipment; busbar system; mechanical properties; and the generation of test documentation".
