ECS Engineering Services has started working with contractor WGM Engineering to maintain and extend the service life of Scottish Water's 200-plus Archimedes screw pumps.

With its extensive experience in Archimedes Screw Pumps and the support of its partner Landustrie, ECS is says it is well positioned for this long-term contract.
Archimedes screws are still among the most efficient pumps for moving large volumes of untreated sewage through elevations under six metres.,
They are used on inlets at a large number of Scottish waste water treatment sites – coping well with varying flows and suspended solids, while massively outlasting other pump types in this application.
ECS will be working with WGM Engineering, which has a close relationship with Scottish Water, and will deliver a proactive maintenance and upgrade programme for all screw pump assets.
ECS has been providing refurbishment works on comparable assets throughout the UK – including hand re-screeding of concrete troughs, replacing lower bearings to upgraded, stainless steel units and full drive train refurbishments.
