MSC won the contract following a competitive tender. Based at Trafford Park, Manchester, Tenmat manufactures composite wear parts and bearing materials, high-temperature resistant materials, engineering ceramics, hard metals, and passive fire protection solutions. Its client base spans sectors including defence, aerospace, automotive rail, oil and gas and construction.
Having previously dealt directly with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), MSC says that Tenmat will now benefit from a streamlined purchasing process and the associated reduced costs, together with greater accountability and reporting, leading to a reduction in consumption, estimated by MSC to be in the region of 25%-30%.
Sean Rudd, head of new business development at MSC, says: “Our ability to deliver a multi-disciplined approach covering vending, engineering, product sourcing and account management, coupled with our in-depth understanding of Tenmat’s business and sector, means we have been able to recommend a fully integrated solution that will streamline their operations and deliver significant efficiencies.”
Julian Greenhalgh, purchasing and commercial director at Tenmat, adds: “MSC’s knowledge of the industry and in-depth product range helped differentiate them from the competition. They have a multi-disciplined customer support team, dedicated to Tenmat, who have been very quick to respond to any queries.”
