Plant engineers using pneumatic cylinders from the likes of Norgren, SMC, Festo, Camozzi, Bosch Rexroth and Parker can now get them repaired, using Thorite's cylinder seal kit overhaul and repair service.

The result, says the company, will be "really worthwhile savings". According to Thorite, 93% of cylinder problems are caused by seal wear, which increases energy costs, due to air leakage, and results in loss of both speed and power.
Thorite says it will collect leaking cylinders, refurbish and return them ready for re-fitment within 10 working days, with all work covered by a three- month warranty.
The service, which is based on standard ISO/VDMA cylinders, starts from just over £100 for a 32Ø unit (excluding other cylinder defects, such as dented barrel, cracked end cap or bent piston rod) and increases in small increments as bore sizes become greater.
Incidentally, Thorite has also announced a new service for hydraulic and rodless pneumatic cylinders – although its engineers say they would need to individually assess each cylinder and provide an estimate for repair.
