ABB is the first electric motor manufacturer to receive IECEx conformity, certifying that products have protection for explosive atmospheres.
IECEx allows certified products to be supplied without additional tests. ABB products covered include its low and high voltage motors, with protection to flameproof Ex d, non-sparking Ex nA, pressurized Ex p and dust-tight Ex tD.
IECEx conformity complements ABB's existing ATEX approval. Certification was granted by LCIE-Bureau Veritas.
Others offering certification services include VTT Expert Services and test house TRaC.
