Oil-free forming lubricant eliminates degreasing

British lubricants developer Millers Oils has launched a new forming lubricant, which it says will help manufacturers “improve process times, cleanliness and durability”.

The new oil-free formulation is designed to replace conventional oil and soap based lubricants, and Millers Oils claims it eliminates the need to degrease components – so reducing production time and costs.

"We recognised that the degreasing process required with traditional tube-bending lubricants was unnecessarily time consuming and messy, and sought to provide a simple, cost-effective solution to this," states Martyn Mann, technical director of Millers Oils.

Millers Oils' Solform Gel was originally developed for exhaust manufacturers, who had to degrease the thin-walled tube before welding to other components, such as catalytic converters or silencers.

Millers Oils' new oil-free formulation thickens under temperature, reducing the amount of lubricant required, improving mandrel life, reducing scrap and helping manufacturers to reduce overall operations costs.
