Cut costs on air-operated diaphragm pumps

For plant engineers wanting to reduce air consumption on large air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pumps, AxFlow is now offering an innovative solution.
Its intelligent MizAir device is designed to cut air consumption by up to 50%, with minimal loss of fluid flow. In operation, this lightweight and compact unit is close-coupled to the pump, requiring only a 24V dc power supply (a self-powered ATEX version is also to be introduced later this year). What you get is a high-flow, normally open, two-way valve and an electronic control unit. Together, these deliver precisely-timed pulses of air to the pump at the start of each stroke. Because less air enters the pump there is less to exhaust, and this helps with the pump's next cycle, as there is less resistance to the return stroke. Also, noise from the exhaust air reduces.
