A hand held intrinsically safe ultrasonic tester, from CorDEX, has been designed to measure metal thicknesses on pipelines and fixed equipment in hazardous locations.

Dubbed UT5000, it comes with Connect reporting software, which integrates RFID technology for automatically tagging to plant predictive maintenance schedules, with exact location, date and time information.
Engineers and technicians charged with monitoring pipeline safety, for example, can take captured field data to create predictive maintenance programmes, and the system also importd digital images from CorDEX Centurion, ToughPIX and other digital cameras.
