An energy saving drive that not only controls up to four pumps, but is also said to extend operating life, while providing diagnostics, constant line pressure and equalised pump operation time, is new from Weg.

Called CFW-08 and covering the 0.25kW to 15kW range, it achieves constant line pressure via a PID controller in conjunction with the auxiliary pumps' start/stop logic.
It also monitors pressure and level of the capture reservoir, and provides minimum pressure fault monitoring for broken pipes or cavitation, as well as maximum pressure fault monitoring for blocked or obstructed pipes.
There are two control modes: V/F and sensorless vector, with the former aimed at variable torque loads (and includes a selectable energy saving feature), while the latter allows the drive to precisely control motor speed and torque for extruder, conveyor and rewinder applications.
