The Mentor Ranger in-vehicle computer, from Mobexx, is now offering improved lone worker safety, with both cellular and satellite communication.

The device, which is aimed at mobile engineers, automatically switches between the two networks, depending on available coverage – so improving monitoring during high risk situations and on isolated sites.
Mobile staff simply wear an intrinsically-safe pendant to check-in and click the button to activate the system, which triggers a countdown to the next required status update.
If an engineer misses a check-in, the system creates an alert, which highlights the vehicle on the office computer screen.
Alerts are also created by pressing the pendant's panic button or if the pendant is motionless for a preset time. The system can also provide automatic email alerts of the missed check-in or panic event to managers.
