A free iPhone app, introduced by high efficiency fan and motor systems manufacturer Ebm-Papst, is aimed at encouraging plant engineers to switch from ac to ec (electronically commutated) technology.
The app, dubbed Go EC, calculates the annual cost of using ac and displays the energy efficiency benefits of moving to ec, providing what the company describes as compelling reasons to switch.
"Ec technology has been shown to be, on average, 30% more energy efficient than conventional ac," states James Cooper, product manager at Ebm-Papst UK.
