Next gen motor condition monitoring system

New functionality, driven by experience in the field, is at the heart of Artesis latest predictive maintenance technology.
At the top level, its so-called next generation motor condition monitor (MCM) and plant condition monitor (PCM) systems use Artesis' Enterprise Server (AES), which connects to HMI, SCADA, process control and business systems without costly systems integration. Then, in terms of new functions, beyond their core machine condition monitoring tasks, both systems automatically monitor on energy consumption, providing efficiency and operating cost and reports. They also provide remote access to monitoring data from anywhere in the world, via iViewer – with maintenance engineers able to 'drill' down for detailed diagnostics views. According to Artesis director Geoff Walker, at one recent installation, the technology enabled engineers to detect foundation disturbances caused by groundworks close to plant equipment. "In addition to selling our systems, we are finding more of our customers buying into our diagnostic service, to maximise the benefit of their recorded data," states Walker. "This is part of our value added service for those who don't have the capacity in-house," he continues. "We offer a variety of diagnostic packages, tailored to suit each individual application." Artesis is showcasing the new MCM/PCM products at Plant & Asset Management 2012, from 17–19 April, NEC, Birmingham.
